Talbert ManufacturingNew Talbert Mfg Self-Loading Double Schnabel Trailers Deliver Greater Safety & Stability In Wind Energy & Heavy Haul Construction Transport

Rensselaer, IN - Talbert Manufacturing, a leader in the specialty-built trailer and transport system industry, announces its newly designed 75-Ton Double Schnabel Trailer which is engineered to deliver greater safety, stability and ease of transport to the wind energy industry, and can also be converted (with optional components) for use in heavy haul construction transport. Units are also available in single and multiple combinations for wind towers. Importantly, Talbert Double Schnabel Trailers are self-sustaining and self-loading with hydraulic-lift capabilities that eliminate the need for cranes during load or unload.

Talbert Double Schnabel Trailers feature a 13-axle hauling configuration designed for two hauling applications – either an 80-meter wind tower base, or a wind tower mid-section. The main upper-front and rear goosenecks are standard HRG style, and pinned in place on a column-style hydraulic Schnabel tower. The lower rear of the tower is equipped with two removable banana-style flange adapter plates for two tower sections. Units are equipped with both mechanical and remote rear steer capability. Note that with optional HRG base sections and a 30-foot deck, the unit can be converted to haul construction and industrial equipment loads up to 75 tons.

“Versus conventional alternatives, our Double Schnabel Trailers provide enhanced safety and stability during transport due to a wider (8-foot) interface area for the load at the top. Traditional units offer a significantly smaller interface area which may lead to potential damage to the tower,” says Talbert engineer Clarence Schubach, who also explains that the interface area on the Talbert trailer is covered with a UHMW (an ultra-high molecular weight plastic) material which will prevent abrasion resistance against the tower.

For ease of operator use and added safety, the upper Talbert “power tower” is equipped with removable and adjustable upper guide tubes which minimize any rolling of the tower section during transport; and all Talbert Schnabel and power tower main hydraulic and air operated controls are on the side of the gooseneck. The operator does not have to climb on the unit to engage lock pins.

The front Talbert Schnabel gooseneck is attached to a 3-axle jeep dolly with a 60-inch sliding 5th wheel to assist with the proper load distribution. The rear Talbert Schnabel gooseneck is attached to a 6-axle rear steer dolly that is rated for a 120,000 lb. load. This steer dolly is extremely versatile and can be used in alternate trailer configurations depending on load requirements. For example, on the Schnabel, it comes equipped with a hydraulic power tower that provides an additional 10-inches of lift. For other configurations, it can be fitted with an optional pin-on bolster platform, attached to the top of the power tower, for hauling bridge beams.

All 6 axles on the Talbert steer dolly are 10-feet-0-inches wide for increased roll stability and safety. The front 3 axles are fixed and non steerable. The rear 3 axles are designed for progressive steering as axle #6 will steer the maximum of 30 degrees. The unit can also be adjusted to steer faster or slower depending on the length of tower section being transported.

“With the major growth of the wind energy market throughout the U.S. and Canada, our newly-designed Double Schnabel Trailers will enable haulers to cost-effectively serve the industry. Our dealers and seasoned sales and engineering professionals are available to assist haulers in entering the wind energy transportation sector,” says Greg D. Smith, vice president of sales and marketing for Talbert Manufacturing.

Founded in 1938, Talbert Manufacturing provides the most complete line of heavy haul trailers and specialized transportation equipment for the commercial, industrial, military and government sectors; and in applications that include renewable energy, aerospace, heavy construction, in-plant material handling, manufacturing and processing systems, and much more. Minimizer
Minimizer Poly Fenders
Perfect Match for Custom Rigs

Blooming Prairie, MNMinimizer poly fenders are the perfect choice for
customizing rigs. Rudy Briscoe knows. He owns a rig customized by Trick My Truck that aired on the Country Music Television station. Rudy’s hails from Altus, Oklahoma. As a capstone to this impressive custom job on his rig he added Minimizer MIN2260 The TT Twin poly fenders with the diamond plate silver finish. So, how did all of this come about?

Rudy’s son Brian was diagnosed with cancer at nearly 4 years of age. He began treatment for the cancer, entered remission, then unfortunately had a relapse and continued treatment again until the age of 9. Now 11, Brian has been in remission for 2 years and visits the doctor for scans every 4 months. Rudy owns a 1989 Peterbilt. It was solid black. Brian thought it would be a good candidate for the Trick My Truck TV show so he nominated it. The producers chose the truck and selected Chrome Shop Mafia to do the work. During the interview process the designers learned that Brian loved classic cars. So they designed the custom job around the look of the ’57 Chevy. The ’57 Chevy was one of the first cars to have fuel injection; as a result they were nicknamed “Fuelies”. So, the truck was dubbed the ’57 Fuelie. Rudy had seen advertisements for Minimizer poly fenders and he knew he needed something to protect the back of his sleeper cabin from rock chips. Being in the cattle hauling business he knew he needed something that was flexible and tough. “We’re in a tough business. I’m always doing low water crossings, going in and out of ditches, and getting in and out of tight and bad places,” said Rudy. “I wanted a fender that would withstand the abuse and the Minimizer does that. The diamond plate finish and the texture help to hide any scratches and they haven’t cracked at all.” Since inception Minimizer poly fenders have always been unique, they don’t rust. The material they’re constructed from is 100% polyethylene. As a result, they don’t need paint, they never fade or stress crack and you don’t have to polish them. That’s the Minimizer Advantage!
Minimizer poly fenders will enhance the performance and look of all makes and
models of over the road trucks, construction vehicles, or agriculture equipment. And now we know how good they are at protecting customized rigs. Enhance and protect your vehicle with Minimizer poly products. The toughness is unmatched as seen on this Minimizer promotional video entitled “Tested & Tortured”.

Realwheels CorporationFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A Crystal Clear Method for Saving Fuel
Also Appeals to Safety Requirements of Large Fleets

Louisville, KY - During the last couple of years, it has become obvious that improving the aerodynamic properties of a big rig truck is extremely beneficial to fuel economy. Since the flow of air around wheels is one of the most aerodynamically disturbed areas of a commercial truck, an aero-style wheel treatment has a profound effect on the way a truck slices through the wind and saves fuel. But that solution also created some challenges for the innovative Engineering staff at Chicago area manufacturer, RealWheels Corporation (RWC).

The vehicle accessory company has been manufacturing a different version of aerodynamic cover for over fifteen years, but during the early days it was primarily purchased for visual styling and appearance. Most of the first disc-like covers were brightly polished stainless steel. However, as large fleets became aware of the enormous cost-saving benefits, other challenges arose. “We quickly found that the large fleets had some specific needs.” Explained RWC Vice President, Jhan Dolphin “Most of the fleets we spoke with required a visual inspection of the wheel lugs and axle hub by drivers before starting any trip. It would be inefficient to have them remove wheel covers each day, so we created our same design from a perfectly clear polycarbonate, lexan material. This new style, not only looks great, but solves the inspection challenge and saves fuel.” The clear polycarbonate material is the same used for producing clear snowplows, and has been proven to be extremely durable and scratch resistant. So, while the accounting departments of large truck fleets are taking notice of the fuel savings, their marketing departments are getting creative with the various image or logo possibilities. Imagine adding a 12” company logo or product image to every wheel in their fleet. There’s no argument that saving fuel and money will be the primary reason for fleets to go with the RWC Aero-Clear wheels covers, but those who understand the importance of continuous marketing and brand-impressions, will no doubt be adding their logo to the center of each cover. RealWheels has spent over thirty years making vehicles look better, and now suddenly finds that their newest product appeals to those customers concerned with the bottom line, just as much as it does a custom show rig.

When you consider the amount of consumer and industrial goods that travel our nation's highways every day, the impact that improved aerodynamics can have on fuel costs and the environment is substantial.

Arrow Truck SalesArrow Celebrates 60th Anniversary As
Used Truck Industry Leader

Kansas City, MO - Arrow Truck Sales, Inc. is celebrating its 60th year as the premier retailer of used, heavy and medium duty trucks and trailers in North America. The company was founded in April, 1950 as a small used truck lot in Kansas City, MO. by business partners Jerry Nerman and the late Melvin Spitcaufsky. They started their dealership with a total investment of $8,000 between the two partners. Arrow has since grown and prospered into 19 retail stores located in the US and Canada including the recent opening of two new retail stores in Denver and Minneapolis. They carry a diverse inventory of 2,500 units of all makes and models and offer a variety of value-add services. Visit www.arrowtruck.com to learn more about Arrow.

In the 50s and 60s, the company did well, primarily wholesaling trucks. By the early 70s, business had expanded rapidly. Current headquarters in Kansas City, MO was built in 1977. In the early 1980s, the federal government deregulated trucking lines which led to a major shakeout in the industry, providing another huge boost to the company's wholesale business. Entry into the retail business took place in the 1980s, and the first retail store opened in Atlanta, GA in 1984. In 1990, Arrow launched its own finance company, Transport Funding. The Volvo Group purchased 50% ownership of the company in November, 1998 and completed acquisition in January 2001. Carl Heikel was named CEO and President in 2004, and continues in that role today.

In February of this year, founder Jerry Nerman celebrated his 90th birthday and announced that he was retiring after 60 years. Asked why he was now retiring, Jerry quipped "to pursue other interests," which includes dedicating more time to his vast, contemporary art collection and being more involved with the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art on the Johnson County Community College campus in Overland Park, KS. Among Jerry's many accomplishments in the trucking industry is helping to found the Used Truck Association (UTA).

"It¹s truly amazing, and even a bit humbling, to realize where Arrow started as a company, and see where we are today," commented Carl Heikel, President & CEO. "Our success and growth through the years is a direct reflection of our dedicated people, quality products, exceptional customer satisfaction and perseverance in an extremely competitive industry." Carl added, "Ironically, Volvo was founded in the same month as Arrow, although just 23 years earlier April, 1927."

To celebrate this important milestone, a number of corporate and branch events will take place, including customer and vendor appreciation events this summer in Arrow's headquarters town of Kansas City. Special finance and promotional programs are also being developed to celebrate the momentous event.

Our mailed circulation of 80,000 reaches owner/operators, drivers, small and large fleet owners and vocational truck owners.  We also distribute our publication to nearly 1,000 Truck Stops where they can be picked up free of charge.  Additionally, The Truckers Choice has exclusive distribution at hundreds of truck and trailer auctions across the country.  The dozens of major Truck Shows that we attend each year give us the opportunity to both distribute our publication as well as add qualified prospects to our mailing list.

You can visit our website at www.TruckersChoice.com where your prospects can shop 24/7…It's all there. When you buy a print ad with the Truckers Choice, we register you on our website completely free of charge.  You can go in at will and add as much inventory as you like. We work hand in hand with SOARR who downloads to our site on a daily basis.

Our experienced creative design department will work with you to custom design your ad for a professional look.  A well designed and attractive ad in the Truckers Choice can effectively begin to tell the story of how you do business including special practices that make you stand apart from your competition.

We know and care about your business and can help you present your
company as top grade!
